Summary >

Shelter-Afrique has appointed Phatisa to manage the Pan African Housing Fund (PAHF), a new real estate private equity fund. First close is targeted to raise US$ 30 million by end Q3 2011. Shelter-Afrique and Phatisa will work closely together during the fund raising stage. There is a well-developed pipeline generated by the Phatisa team. The Fund will invest primarily in middle income residential development, mining villages, hostels and mixed use. A further sector that the Fund will explore is the provision of rental stock to end-users as a gateway to property ownership. Commercial property and value chain opportunities will also be appraised. The Fund will initially target a limited set of geographies in order to demonstrate the opportunity to investors. The Fund will only execute transactions where it has the capability to execute and manage all risk aspects of the investment. Initial geographies identified are Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique and Botswana. The PAHF will be investing in the major urban areas within these geographies. (Source: Phatisa)
